ERFURT_ With two donation handovers in Jena to the Thuringian Cancer Society e. V. and to the Parent Initiative for Children with Cancer Jena e. V. (EKK), a fundraising campaign came to a close today, Thursday, June 15, 2023, which benefited a total of ten Thuringian non-profit organizations. At the end of November last year, LEG auctioned off memorabilia from the traditional house "Erfurter Hof", which once welcomed guests from all over the world as an Interhotel, for a good cause. LEG transferred the total proceeds from the auction amounting to 15,000 euros to the "LEG Summer School – Companies Engage for Families e. V.", which distributed them in the form of donations to ten non-profit organizations in Thuringia over the past few weeks.
Today's handovers in Jena were carried out by Anke Kalb and Michael Russ, board member and member of the "LEG Summer School – Companies Committed to Families e. V.“. The recipients were Prof. Dr. med. Andreas Hochhaus and Astrid Heßmer, Chairperson and Managing Director of the Thuringian Cancer Society, and Katrin Mohrholz and Katja Heinze, Managing Director and Deputy Managing Director of the EKK. Both associations each received 1,500 euros. The other eight recipients of donations in recent weeks are (in alphabetical order):

Background:
As the redevelopment agency, LEG Thüringen has accompanied the transformation of the "Erfurter Hof" opposite the main train station of the state capital for 15 years and beyond. For decades, the building housed many guests as an Interhotel, attracted visitors with attractive gastronomic offerings, and was, among other things, the site of the visit of West German Chancellor Willy Brandt in 1970. Some inventory had been preserved in the archives of the state company up to the present day, which was auctioned off for the fundraising campaign as part of a public auction. Among the memorabilia were seating furniture, tables, lamps, and hotel tableware, as well as the large mural "Around the World in 80 Days by Jules Verne.".
The "LEG Summer School – Companies Committed to Family e. V." is closely connected to LEG through its board and association work and is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. The association brings together various initiatives on the topic of work-life balance and advocates for social causes. The "LEG Summer School" is held annually, providing schoolchildren with an attractive holiday program. Since 2021, the association has been organizing tree-planting activities for families in Erfurt and the surrounding area – the next one will take place on November 3 and 4, 2023 in Haßleben.
