In a recent interview by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Germany e.V. (CHKD) with Shen Feng, General Manager Europe of CATL, the significant role of the Thuringia site was clearly highlighted. For the selection of the location for CATL's first project in Europe, with an investment of 1.8 billion euros and currently 1,700 employees, the proximity to some of the most important customers was decisive. As a "flagship project" in Europe, various business processes have been successfully tested at the Thuringia plant in order to implement them later in other plants, such as the recruitment and further training of skilled workers or the development of supply chains. The importance of the Thuringia site is expected to continue to grow. It serves as a training and development center for talent, as a pioneer in technological cooperation, as a center for the development of the European supply chain, and as Europe's largest battery testing and validation center. The Thuringia plant also continues to serve as the central starting point for the Chinese battery manufacturer's long-term commitment in Europe.
