Another step on the way to the Thuringian competence cluster for e-mobility is the investment by the company that is currently being implemented in Hildburghausen. LION Smart, a subsidiary of the Swiss holding company LION E-Mobility AG, is relocating its production line for the series production of battery packs from Dingolfing to Thuringia. In a 2,500 m² hall, around four million battery cells can be assembled annually in two-shift operation; this corresponds to 156 battery packs per day or 40,000 packs per year. In addition, the new location has a 1,425 m² high-bay warehouse in which up to 18,000 battery cells can be stored in order to be able to handle large customer orders. The Canadian manufacturer Vicinity Motor is one of LION Smart's major customers. Production in Hildburghausen is scheduled to start in February 2023. (maa)
