All topics around plastics in focus: Thuringia presents itself at Fakuma in Friedrichshafen

Thuringian joint stand with eight exhibitors showcases the state's competencies / Trade fair provides impulses for innovative circular economy, sustainability and digitalization

ERFURT_ It is the German trade fair highlight on the topic of plastics, and Thuringia is taking part: From Tuesday, October 17 to Saturday, October 21, the 28th Fakuma, an established industry meeting point for an international professional audience, will take place in Friedrichshafen. Fakuma is one of the largest platforms for processes, products and technological solutions in the areas of injection molding, extrusion technology, thermoforming and 3D printing. On behalf of the Thuringian Ministry of Economic Affairs, LEG has organized a Thuringian joint stand, where eight companies from the Free State will present themselves over the five days of the fair.

With nearly 18,000 employees and a turnover of over 3.8 billion euros, the plastics processing industry is one of the largest sectors in Thuringia," says LEG CEO Andreas Krey ahead of the fair. "Of course we are on site at one of the world's largest industry gatherings and are using the opportunity to showcase our expertise and solutions as well as Contacte to customers and partners from around the world to build up and expand .

Of the approximately 1,400 exhibitors, more than 40 percent come from abroad; around 40 countries are represented. Fakuma is known for its strong practical relevance and the participation of high-ranking industry decision-makers. It is therefore an ideal place to exchange ideas about the considerable challenges facing companies and researchers in the sector. Key topics include the circular economy, recycling and sustainability, energy efficiency, digitalization, and process automation.

High-quality and durable plastic high-tech solutions are needed in such diverse areas as energy technology, construction, consumer and furnishing sectors, as well as mobility. The latter field of action, for example, demands new material concepts and the further development of production processes with the transition to e-mobility. Other trends that necessitate significant adaptation processes in various application areas include decarbonization, climate protection, and issues of raw material availability and energy security.

The Thuringian exhibitors at this year's Fakuma are (in alphabetical order):

  • Eichsfelder Schraubenwerk GmbH
  • Formconsult Werkzeugbau GmbH GKT
  • GBneuhaus GmbH
  • Gräfenthaler Kunststofftechnik GmbH
  • Horst Bauerschmidt KG
  • K.I.K. Kunststoff GmbH
  • Ostthüringische Materialprüfgesellschaft für Textil und Kunststoffe mbH
  • Schülken Form GmbH

The companies' thematic focuses range from the manufacturing of precision tools, through the development and application of functional coating solutions, to material testing for plastics according to national and international standards and norms.
