This top-class hotel demonstrates that Thuringia is also a top location for tourism

Successful completion of a mega-project: In the last quarter of 2022, the Familux Resort "The Grand Green Oberhof," a top-class hotel, opened its doors. With 110 suites, up to 15 luxury chalets, and attractive areas for wellness, sports, and children's entertainment, it offers ample space for vacationers with children. The luxury hotel was launched by the Austrian hotelier family Mayer and is located in the internationally renowned winter sports resort of Oberhof in southern Thuringia, which will host the Luge and Biathlon World Championships in the coming weeks.

The new hotel, exclusively catering to families with children, presents itself as a top-class establishment. In addition to excellent standards and upscale dining, it offers a wide range of activities for guests of all ages, ensuring an exciting holiday no matter the season. These include an in-house cinema, an indoor go-kart track, soft play areas, a virtual reality room, a spa and sauna complex (with an outdoor pool), and a ski practice slope and a toddler ski slope. The name "The Grand Green" is quite fitting, as the hotel's design and furnishings are based on natural materials, and the activity program offers numerous activities centered around nature and the environment – perfectly suited to Oberhof's location in one of Germany's most beautiful natural landscapes, the Thuringian Forest. "The new hotel sets standards for future-oriented holidays – the investors' decision to choose Thuringia demonstrates that our state is a top location for tourism," says LEG Managing Director Andreas Krey. LEG provided the Mayer Group with comprehensive support and guidance throughout the entire project. The investment volume amounted to approximately 65 million euros, with the state of Thuringia contributing a subsidy of around 20 percent. Currently, 140 employees are working for the guests; recruitment went smoothly, partly due to the large number of people returning to Thuringia. (hw)
