Biscuits from Kahla are known far beyond the country's borders – and the sweet and pastry products are now manufactured at one of the largest and most modern sites in Europe. Shortly after reunification, the company decided on the Thuringia location, thus establishing a success story in the heart of Germany. 140 million euros were invested in the new hall at the end of June, coinciding with the anniversary. The well-known "Prinzenrolle" comes from Kahla, as do soft cakes, cookies, and biscuit mixes. Every year, 600 employees produce more than 80,000 tons of baked goods for customers worldwide.
With over 270 employees, Bell Equipment is present in West Thuringia. 20 years ago, the international group established its first production facility outside South Africa there, and this was followed by continuous growth at the Thuringia site; most recently, additional areas were put into use in 2019 and 2022/23, and the production range was expanded. Currently, the Thuringian plant produces around 500 heavy transport vehicles for earthworks and extraction annually; customers in Europe, North America, and Asia are supplied. (hw)
