Geopolitics meets Thuringian Foreign Trade 2024

As in the two previous turn-of-the-year events, we are also looking forward to an exchange with geopolitics expert Ralf Schuster this winter – whom we will meet for the first time not virtually, but in person. He will classify current geopolitical developments, venture an outlook, and provide impulses for concrete business-strategic considerations.To content: As in business, so too in geopolitics it is central to understand the interests of the other side. Following the principle of “Know your Frienemies”, the different motivations and reactions of the key geopolitical players are outlined. Here, the change of perspective is of central importance: How does the “Global South” view the “West”? – A value-free and neutral consideration is necessary to bring transparency to the different strategies. Against this backdrop, questions such as these arise: Are the current upheavals the dawn of a new multipolar world order? How do current geopolitical strategies affect operational export business? What implications do doctrines like “Buy American” and the Chinese “Dual Circulation” have for German companies? How are global supply routes changing? Which markets offer companies new alternatives? Who are the profiteers of the current transformations? About the speaker: Ralf Schuster is a Geopolitical Expert at Helaba and Geopolitical Advisor to the GHA-German Health Alliance – an initiative of the BDI. He is also a long-standing member of the Executive Board of Ghorfa – Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry – and a member of the International Club at the Federal Foreign Office. Ralf Schuster is a sought-after speaker for lectures and seminars at financial institutions, companies, associations, and in politics, and his audience now extends far beyond Europe. At the last two Thuringian Foreign Trade Days, he moderated the panel discussions. He has also given several lectures on geopolitical topics for LEG.
