Working in Thuringia: The academix Career fair opens up many opportunities for young professionals

The Thuringian Agency for Skilled Worker Recruitment (ThAFF) is offering a platform in a hybrid format on May 19th / Exhibitors and employers come from Thuringia / Supporting program helps with career entry

Erfurt – Face-to-face or simply from the comfort of your sofa: Young professionals, students, and graduates will have the opportunity to meet exciting employers and find their dream job on Thursday, May 19, at the "academix Thüringen" Career fair, either in person or online. In person means at the COMCENTER Brühl in Erfurt, the headquarters of LEG and its Thuringian Agency for Skilled Worker Recruitment (ThAFF), which is organizing academix. "I am delighted to be able to reopen 'academix Thüringen' after a two-year hiatus. Recruiting young talent for local businesses and public administration remains a challenge for the coming decades and simultaneously offers many young people excellent prospects for good and secure jobs in Thuringia," said Minister of Labor Heike Werner.

Between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., employers exclusively from Thuringia will be presenting themselves. "We are delighted to be able to hold our trade fair again in a hybrid format after a two-year interruption due to the pandemic," says LEG Managing Director Sabine Wosche. "We offer our companies in the Free State the opportunity to present job offers, internships, or working student positions. Young professionals can find a wide range of options for entering the Thuringian job market at a glance!" Minister of Labor Heike Werner and Sabine Wosche will officially open the event with a joint tour of the fair at 10 a.m.

For the 11th time, ThAFF is organizing academix Thüringen. Participation is free and open to all interested parties without registration. The range of industries and sectors represented by the exhibitors is broad, encompassing manufacturing, the social sector, the public service, the hotel and restaurant industry, and IT – many fields where the demand for skilled workers is very high and has even increased during the pandemic. The Career fair is complemented by a diverse supporting program. On-site, guests can receive feedback on their application documents at ThAFF's application portfolio check and have professional headshots taken free of charge. Speakers will provide live and online information and tips on job searching, applications, and career entry.

Background:

The Thuringian Agency for Skilled Worker Recruitment (ThAFF) is located within LEG Thüringen and was founded in 2011. Commissioned by the Thuringian Ministry of Labor, its primary goals are twofold: firstly, to help Thuringian companies meet their growing demand for skilled workers, and secondly, to support young people entering the workforce, as well as commuters and potential returnees, in (re)entering the workforce in Thuringia. To this end, ThAFF promotes Thuringia as an employment location, advises its target groups, and informs them about job opportunities in the Free State (for example, through commuter days). With its own company contact fairs – "academix" for young people and "comeback" for commuters and returnees – it connects companies with (future) skilled workers. ThAFF is also actively involved in various networks and supports labor market stakeholders at events. ThAFF is funded by the Free State of Thuringia.
