ERFURT – RIS3 – this abbreviation doesn't refer to a new generation of smartphones, but rather to the innovation strategy of the Free State of Thuringia (Regional Innovation Strategy for Smart Specialisation). At the RIS3 annual event on November 28, 2017, in Erfurt, all interested parties can gain exciting insights into innovative projects, visions, and research trends from Thuringia free of charge. Registration for the event is open until November 16, 2017.
“Thuringia’s innovation strategy thrives on the participation of a wide range of stakeholders, including entrepreneurs, researchers, and networks,” said LEG Managing Director Andreas Krey. “The RIS3 annual event is therefore an excellent opportunity to learn about pioneering projects from Thuringia, exchange ideas, and take as many new impulses as possible back to your own company.” More than 300 leading innovation drivers will be present on the day. In three parallel conference sessions, visitors can also get a brief overview of more than 50 Thuringian innovation projects that have emerged from the implementation of RIS3 Thuringia to date. A marketplace of opportunities will also highlight points of contact and collaboration for implementing your own research and business projects.
Background:
In the summer of 2010, the European Council adopted the "Europe 2020" growth strategy to promote smart, sustainable, and inclusive growth across Europe. All 271 European regions were asked to develop regional innovation strategies to use increasingly scarce structural funds more efficiently and to develop a distinctive specialization profile. These strategies are a key requirement for each region to access EU funding for research, development, and innovation in the current funding period. The Thuringian Innovation Strategy was adopted by the Thuringian Cabinet on June 10, 2014, and subsequently confirmed by the European Commission. Implementation of the strategy began in early 2015. The Thuringian Cluster Management (ThCM) operates on behalf of the Free State of Thuringia, is co-financed by the European Union (ERDF), and is responsible for implementing the Innovation Strategy. It also organizes the RIS3 annual event on behalf of the Thuringian Ministry for Economic Affairs, Science and Digital Society.
