Thuringian Innovation Prize shows: The Free State is shaping the future!

Thuringia is a land of innovation – this was demonstrated once again by the awarding of the state's most important business prize. The "Thuringian Innovation Prize" has been awarded annually since 1994, and the winners were honored in Weimar at the beginning of December. The prize is sponsored by the Thuringian Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Thuringian Foundation for Technology, Innovation and Research (STIFT), TÜV Thuringia, and the Ernst Abbe Foundation.

The Thuringian Innovation Award is a benchmark for new developments and inventions in the Free State and recognizes outstanding innovations made in Thuringia. It is awarded in four main categories: "Tradition and Future" (winner: Fliegl Fahrzeugbau GmbH), "Light and Life" (Synantec GmbH/EICMED GmbH), "Digital and Media" (KupTec GmbH), and "Industry and Materials" (Schulz & Berger Luft- und Verfahrenstechnik GmbH). The prizes, totaling €100,000, were provided by the Ministry of Economic Affairs. An additional €10,000 special prize for young companies, sponsored by the Funke Media Group, was awarded to support startups (DeepEn GmbH). This year's Ernst Abbe Prize for innovative entrepreneurship went to Viktoria Schütz (DEGUMA Schütz GmbH), and the Audience Award was presented to REHA aktiv 2000 GmbH. The criteria for evaluating the 46 applications were degree of innovation, entrepreneurial achievement, sustainability, practical value, and economic success. (hw/maa)
