Built in 1907, the half-timbered "Schieferhof" (Slate Court) is a place where old-world charm meets a modern spirit. Individually and lovingly designed rooms, a small wellness area, modern seminar rooms, and exquisite cuisine attract guests to a region that has always been highly attractive for recreation and tourism. The Thuringian Forest, and especially the area around Neuhaus am Rennweg, offers a wealth of opportunities for outdoor activities or simply relaxation. The region also boasts a rich cultural and technological heritage, being the cradle of a diverse glass, porcelain, and toy industry. The Christmas tree ornaments from neighboring Lauscha alone enjoy worldwide renown, which is why the hotel's new name is "Schieferhof – GlasLUST" (Slate Court – Glass Delight). The "Schieferhof" was run by Rita Worm-Horn and Lutz Michael Horn, along with their son Robert Worm, from the mid-1990s onwards – the new owners and operators are Lutz Lange, Martin Lüders, and Stine Michel.
