For the second time, the Swiss company Prognos AG – known for publishing a wide range of studies – has compiled a nationwide ranking of German cities. This time, 71 cities with more than 100,000 inhabitants were examined. The focus was on the categories of ecology, mobility, social issues, employment, and digitalization. In addition to the status quo, dynamism – that is, development over a specific period – also played a role. And this is precisely where the Thuringian university city of Jena scored highly, taking first place – ahead of Ulm, Chemnitz, and Osnabrück. The state capital, Erfurt, also made it into the top five in terms of dynamism – followed by Magdeburg, Dresden, and Leipzig. (maa)
