From May 18 to 24, 2025, Minister-President Mario Voigt and Minister of Economic Affairs Colette Boos-John traveled to the US East Coast with a delegation of representatives from business and academia. Their itinerary included stops in Washington, New York, and Boston – centers for smart manufacturing, biotechnology, and digital technologies. The aim was to showcase Thuringia as a strong innovation partner, forge new collaborations, facilitate access to the US market, and attract investors. Given the growing uncertainty surrounding US tariffs, the state government also intends to strengthen transatlantic dialogue. The US is Thuringia's most important export market, with a trade volume of approximately €2.8 billion. Over 300 Thuringian companies maintain business relationships in the US. This first trip led by Minister-President Voigt and Minister of Economic Affairs Boos-John was intended to send a strong signal for international cooperation and shared future technologies.
