ERFURT_ With a rather unusual campaign LEG Thüringen through its non-profit organization LEG-Sommerschule, aims to raise money for a good cause starting March 31, 2025: A total of 40 jerseys and collector's items, some of them signed, will be auctioned off to the highest bidder in an auction on the online platform Ebay.
Up for auction are several DFB jerseys, all signed by the German national football team. Also included are three items exclusively donated by the English national football team: a high-quality billiard table, a professional indoor golf mat, and a special edition of the popular table football game Subbuteo. The latter came from the English team's base camp in Blankenhain during the 2024 European Championship and were heavily used by the "Three Lions" off the pitch during that time. The two top basketball clubs, Science City Jena and Basketball Löwen Erfurt, have also donated a total of 33 signed jerseys from their players to the LEG Summer School. These will be auctioned off to the highest bidder for a charitable project in Thuringia.
The auction will take place between March 31st and April 10th, 2025 (starting March 31st at 6 PM) and is primarily aimed at sports enthusiasts in and outside of Thuringia. More information is available on the website www.ebay.de/usr/leg-sommerschule After the auction starts on Monday evening, you will receive a comprehensive overview and all the necessary information and pictures of the individual auction items.
Background:
In 2024, the English and German national football teams brought a true summer fairytale to Thuringia with their stay in Blankenhain: The Spa & Golf Resort Weimarer Land hosted the German national team's training camp from the end of May and the English national team's stay during the European Football Championship. Commissioned by the then Thuringian Ministry for Economic Affairs, Science and Digital Society LEG Thüringen was responsible for upgrading the sports field and castle grounds in Blankenhain in preparation for the visit. During the training camp and throughout the European Championship, the official media centers of the German Football Association (DFB) and the English Football Association were located in Blankenhain Castle. As a token of appreciation for their support during this time, both football teams left behind some signed souvenirs, which LEG Thüringen through its LEG Summer School association, would like to distribute to sports enthusiasts, with the proceeds going towards a charitable project in Thuringia.
