Due to strong business growth, the existing facilities in Waltershausen were no longer sufficient, so 22 employees relocated to the Gotha-Süd industrial park. Since November 2024, they have been producing control cabinets for energy suppliers and industry on a 1,600 m² site – with a view to doubling their assembly volume.

“The courage to make the decision is paying off – the production hall and order books are full,” emphasized Christoph Menger, Head of Electrification and Automation at Siemens Germany. Minister-President Mario Voigt praised Siemens as an “industrial anchor for Thuringia.” Location factors such as proximity to the A4 motorway, public transport connections, and the excellent cooperation with the owner of the industrial site, the Thuringian State Development Corporation, were decisive in choosing Gotha.

The newly available space in Waltershausen is also being used: a new test field has been set up there. Siemens employs a total of around 580 people in Thuringia. Subsidiaries in Rudolstadt manufacture vacuum components, X-ray tubes, and detectors for medical and industrial applications, while system solutions and system components for the automotive industry are produced in Unterwellenborn. The Erfurt generator plant, on the other hand, belongs to Siemens Energy AG.
