ERFURT – The West Thuringian company PWB encoders GmbH has been recognized as the newest member of the Thuringian Hidden Champions campaign. With this campaign, the Free State of Thuringia and its state development agency (LEG Thüringen) honor global market and technology leaders based in Thuringia. PWB can now also call itself one of these "champions." The certificate of appointment was presented by Thuringia's State Secretary for Economic Affairs, Mario Suckert, LEG Department Head Herbert Stütz, and LEG Project Manager Maiko Klosch during the groundbreaking ceremony for the company's new innovation center, which took place today, April 29, at the company headquarters in Eisenach.
According to the company, it is a leading manufacturer of precision plastic components such as plastic contact discs and rotary encoders. Rotary encoders are sensors that use optical and magnetic scanning, providing solutions for precise positioning and motion control in industrial applications. For example, PWB's industrial customers can determine linear and linear movements, as well as the speed, position, and angle of their machines in their factories. PWB states that its rotary encoders are used in automation, robotics, and medical technology, among other applications. PWB encoders GmbH was founded in 2009; the company currently employs 45 people and generates annual sales of approximately €8 million.
PWB encoders GmbH joins a group of nearly 100 outstanding companies that together employ more than 14,000 people and generate around 8 billion euros in revenue. Among them are internationally renowned corporations such as Carl Zeiss and Jenoptik, as well as hidden champions like Häcker Automation and Askion.
