The Times Higher Education World University Rankings are published annually by Times Higher Education (THE) and are among the most internationally recognized rankings in higher education. In the latest ranking, Friedrich Schiller University Jena (FSU) improved its position by one place, now ranking 21st among German universities. In the area of ​​teaching, it ranks among the top 20 in Germany and among the top 12 percent worldwide. In the research quality category, FSU achieved 83 points (up from 81.8), placing it 18th among German universities. Globally, its overall ranking remained within the 201-250 range. 
“This is an important success for the university, as international university rankings are one of the most important instruments for attracting students and researchers,” said University President Prof. Dr. Andreas Marx. 

The ranking methodology comprises 18 indicators that assess, among other things, teaching, research, and internationalization. Internationally, the University of Oxford leads the ranking, followed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard University. (maa)
