It is important for integration into society, but at the same time a major challenge for people coming to us from abroad: access for international workers and skilled professionals to the German and Thuringian labor market. The event "Information Day: Erfurt International – Career Prospects" at the COMCENTER Brühl, Mainzerhofstraße 10 in Erfurt, on Friday, February 28, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., offers insights and an opportunity to exchange ideas on this topic.
“Professional integration is an essential factor for successful participation in social and economic life,” says Sabine Wosche, Managing Director of LEG. “With this information day, we provide international workers and skilled professionals with a wealth of suggestions and information for a successful start in the Thuringian labor market.” The event is organized by all members of the “Working Group on Integration into the Labor Market” of the “Network for Integration of the City of Erfurt,” which includes LEG Thüringen (with its “Thuringian Agency for Skilled Worker Recruitment – ThAFF” division). “We already have a wide range of advisory and support services for refugees and immigrants in Erfurt,” says Viktoria Schacher, the network coordinator. “To better coordinate these services, we are now organizing this information day for the third time. Participants can gain a comprehensive overview of the opportunities available to them and how they can best utilize and develop their strengths. We hope that this will help those interested find long-term and meaningful employment.”
Many refugees and immigrants face a multitude of options without being able to navigate them. This information day aims to provide guidance: It offers a comprehensive overview of counseling and support services – language course providers introduce themselves, and there are targeted programs for career orientation and exploration, vocational training, university studies, continuing education, qualifications, and the recognition of degrees. Counseling focuses on very specific concerns, such as questions about creating a suitable resume or evaluating job advertisements. It is offered in twelve languages, including German, English, Polish, Persian/Farsi, Arabic, and Chinese. Six presentations provide inspiration and information; these are given in German, Spanish, and Ukrainian. Participants can also learn valuable information through the accompanying exhibition with information booths.
