Integration into the labor market: Information day in Erfurt offers international skilled workers inspiration and exchange

Lectures, videos and exhibition on Saturday, September 2nd, in Erfurt / Organizers: Network for Integration of the City of Erfurt and Thuringian Agency for Skilled Worker Recruitment

ERFURT – Integration into the labor market is important, but also challenging for people with a refugee and/or migration background, as it is a significant factor for successful participation in social and economic life. Against this backdrop, the information day "Career Prospects for International Citizens" on Saturday, September 2, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the COMCENTER Brühl in Erfurt, offers numerous suggestions, data, and facts on the topic, as well as an opportunity for exchange. The event is organized by all members of the "Working Group Integration into the Labor Market" of the "Network for Integration of the City of Erfurt," which also includes LEG Thüringen (with its "Thuringian Agency for Skilled Worker Recruitment – ThAFF" division). All visitors can expect a free, multilingual program of lectures, information booths, and video presentations. A supervised play area will be available for children.

“The range of advisory and support services for immigrants and refugees in Erfurt is very diverse. Often, these people are simply unaware of all these options. This information day aims to provide them with comprehensive information about the possibilities, the educational pathways available, and ultimately, how to secure long-term, meaningful employment,” explains Rebecca Heintz, coordinator of the “Network for Integration of the City of Erfurt.” “As the economic development agency of the Free State of Thuringia, we understand the crucial importance of integrating international skilled workers into the labor market, and our ThAFF (Thuringian Employment and Social Services) is particularly active in this area,” says Sabine Wosche, Managing Director of LEG (Erfurt Economic Development Corporation). “Events like the information day on Saturday are vital for those who want to work here, and we are delighted to be able to host this special event at our facilities!”

The program includes a total of 16 presentations in nine languages: German, English, Spanish, Polish, Romanian, Ukrainian, Russian, Arabic, and Vietnamese. Topics range from general advice and information on finding a suitable job to specific issues such as creating a suitable resume, evaluating job postings, and dealing with the recognition of qualifications. An accompanying exhibition with information booths provides further valuable insights. Exhibitors include members of the "Working Group on Integration into the Labor Market" of the "Network for Integration of the City of Erfurt," including (in alphabetical order):
