Exclusive meeting of champions in Jena

An extraordinary gathering of champions took place in Jena at the end of May: Under the motto "ChampionsMEET Thuringia: Business meets Football," LEG hosted its second meeting of global market and technology leaders from the Free State of Thuringia. Ahead of the European Championship, the event was held at the Jena football arena – in the presence of World Cup winner and DFB sporting director Rudi Völler, and with the opportunity for all guests to watch the national team's public training session at the Ernst-Abbe-Sportfeld.

In March 2023, the Thuringian Ministry of Economic Affairs and LEG launched the "Hidden Champions – Thuringian Global Market and Technology Leaders" campaign. Since then, LEG has recognized nearly 100 companies that deliver top performance and are at the forefront of the market. The ChampionsMEET event brings together politicians, LEG representatives, and the hidden champions, facilitating exchange. At the second edition of the event, held at the end of May, six new global market and technology leaders were honored. Special guest Rudi Völler was present, and Professor Hans-Dieter Hermann, the team psychologist for the German national football team, gave an inspiring presentation. Afterwards, participants watched a public training session with Manuel Neuer, Toni Kroos, Thomas Müller, and their teammates. This event was part of a larger initiative: the German national team spent a week at the Spa & GolfResort Weimarer Land (Blankenhain) prior to the European Championship. LEG supported this stay on behalf of the state with a series of infrastructure projects, including the construction and operation of the media center and the renovation of the municipal sports field and the castle square.
