Digitalization is best achieved through dialogue

Thuringia is hosting the 3rd Digitalization Conference / Participants from digital agencies in Germany and Austria / Goal: To develop solutions for the future through exchange

ERFURT – Digitalization transcends borders, and diverse exchanges enable the development of exciting new solutions in future technologies, which will ultimately benefit Thuringia as well: This is the guiding principle of the 3rd Digitalization Conference, which will take place on Thursday, March 17, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Arena Erfurt (Steigerwald Stadium). Those interested can also follow the event online via livestream. The conference is organized by the Thuringian Digital Agency (DAT) and the Vienna-based consulting agency for digital infrastructure, SBR-net Consulting AG. The opening address will be given by Thuringia's Minister for Digital Strategy, Wolfgang Tiefensee, on whose behalf DAT is co-implementing the Thuringian Digital Strategy. Participants include representatives from digital agencies in Germany and Austria.

“The challenges of digitalization are diverse and multifaceted, and the exchange of experience and project-based cooperation are essential for developing future-oriented solutions,” says Heiko Kahl, Managing Director of DAT, ahead of the event. “During the conference, we will share information about our expertise and projects, and we will gather expertise on specific digitalization topics. Thuringia, as the host state, benefits, like all participants, from the constructive dialogue and networking.” In addition to Digital Minister Tiefensee, Steffen Linnert, Deputy Mayor for Finance, Economic Affairs, and Digitalization of the state capital Erfurt, will welcome the guests. Heiko Kahl and Ernst-Olav Ruhle, Managing Director of SBR-net Consulting AG, will present a comparison of digitalization strategies at the state level. Representatives from the digital agencies of Tyrol, Lower Austria, Brandenburg, Lower Saxony, Saxony, and Saarland will also speak about their work. Among the topics explored at the conference are the opportunities presented by quantum technologies and digital twins in practice; one presentation will compare the “digital capitals” of Berlin and Vienna.

Background:
The Thuringia Digital Agency was founded on June 1, 2019, and is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Thuringian State Development Corporation (LEG Thüringen). Its mission is to accelerate broadband expansion in the Free State of Thuringia, advance the implementation of the Thuringian Digital Strategy, and initiate digital projects and initiatives. In addition to infrastructure development, it also focuses on developing ideas for how citizens, businesses, and educational institutions can better utilize the emerging digital infrastructure. With their establishment in 2019, the digital agencies in Thuringia and Brandenburg were the first of their kind in Germany; several other federal states have since also established their own digital agencies.
