Marquardt already employs around 350 people in Thuringia and will create another 200 jobs by the end of 2025 on a building area of two hectares. "We are delighted with Marquardt's commitment," says Andreas Krey, Managing Director of LEG, the company that attracted the business and is providing land in the industrial park. "This investment will further strengthen Thuringia as an automotive and battery manufacturing location."
“This investment here in Thuringia – despite the most adverse circumstances – is a commitment to Germany as a business location. At the same time, the new plant is a symbol of a new beginning and confidence. In a truly challenging economic time, more and more experts are working together here on the future of automotive history: the transition to electromobility,” said Dr. Harald Marquardt, Chairman of the Board of the Marquardt Group, at the opening ceremony.
The family-owned company is headquartered in Rietheim-Weilheim, Baden-Württemberg, and claims to be the world's leading manufacturer of mechatronic switching and control systems. In addition to battery management systems, its automotive product portfolio also includes vehicle access and authorization systems. The company employs approximately 10,000 people at 22 locations on four continents. Revenue in 2023 was nearly €1.4 billion; one-tenth of this is invested in research and development. (hw)
