Especially during the Advent season, which is just beginning, the Bummi department store, run by the AWO Alten-, Jugend- und Sozialhilfe (AJS) gGmbH (Workers' Welfare Association for the Elderly, Youth and Social Welfare), is experiencing a great response – many low-income parents shop here on Thomasstraße in Erfurt and can buy affordable gifts for their children for the most wonderful time of the year – from toys and clothing to books. For many, this is the only way to delight their little ones with a nice present on Christmas Day.
The employees of LEG Thüringen are happy to contribute to this cause year after year and have once again been diligently collecting donations in recent weeks: Numerous moving boxes full of games, puzzles, musical instruments, dolls, books, school bags, roller skates, art supplies, clothing, shoes, rocking horses, and more were collected during this year's donation drive. Today, Thursday, November 27th, department head Michael Russ and Simone Otto from LEG's Human Resources and Skilled Workforce Management department presented the donations to Sonja Tragboth, Head of Child and Youth Services at the AWO State Association, and to Maria Böwe, a full-time employee at the department store.
“We first organized the fundraising campaign for the Bummi department store in 2012 and have been present every year since then, in the run-up to Christmas, to deliver the gifts,” say Andreas Krey and Sabine Wosche, Managing Directors of LEG. “We are delighted that our employees continue to be so generous and that this joint effort brings joy.”
