Thuringia's state capital Erfurt will be the seat of German Agency for Transfer and Innovation (DATI)The DATI (German Innovation and Technology Transfer Agency) will serve as the federal government's central innovation and funding agency, helping to rapidly translate technological and social research findings into economic and societal applications. It will thus become a driving force and a key point of contact for research-based transfer and innovation in Germany. In particular, the DATI aims to strengthen collaboration between application-oriented universities and research institutions and industry. The Thuringian Ministry of Economic Affairs had already submitted its own proposal for the DATI headquarters in early 2022. Minister of Economic Affairs Wolfgang Tiefensee welcomed the decision: "Germany's economy thrives on innovation. Good ideas and research results should be translated into new products, processes, and services as quickly as possible. Therefore, we must accelerate innovation even further in the future. The DATI will ensure this from its base in Thuringia for the benefit of all of Germany." Tiefensee also interpreted the establishment of the federal agency as a sign of recognition for Thuringia's success as an emerging technology and economic region. (hw)
