All topics related to plastics in focus: Thuringia presents itself at Fakuma in Friedrichshafen

Thuringian joint stand with eight exhibitors showcases the Free State's expertise / Trade fair provides impetus for innovative circular economy, sustainability and digitalization

ERFURT – It's the German trade fair highlight for all things plastics, and Thuringia is there: From Tuesday, October 17th to Saturday, October 21st, the 28th Fakuma, an established industry meeting place for an international audience of professionals, will take place in Friedrichshafen. Fakuma is one of the largest platforms for processes, products, and technological solutions in the fields of injection molding, extrusion technology, thermoforming, and 3D printing. On behalf of the Thuringian Ministry of Economic Affairs, LEG has organized a joint Thuringian stand, where eight companies from the Free State will be presenting their products and services over the five days of the fair.

“With nearly 18,000 employees and a turnover of over 3.8 billion euros, the plastics processing industry is one of the largest sectors in Thuringia,” says LEG Managing Director Andreas Krey ahead of the trade fair. “Of course, we will be present at one of the world’s largest industry gatherings and will take the opportunity to present our expertise and solutions, as well as to establish and expand Contact with customers and partners from all over the world!”

Of the approximately 1,400 exhibitors, more than 40 percent come from abroad; around 40 countries are represented. Fakuma is known for its strong practical focus and the participation of high-ranking decision-makers in the industry. This makes it an ideal forum for exchanging ideas on the considerable challenges facing companies and researchers in the sector. Key topics include the circular economy, recycling and sustainability, energy efficiency, digitalization, and process automation.

High-quality and durable high-tech plastic solutions are needed in diverse sectors such as energy technology, construction, consumer goods and furnishings, and mobility. The latter, for example, with the transition to e-mobility, demands new material concepts and the further development of production processes. Other trends requiring significant adaptation across various application areas include decarbonization, climate protection, and issues of raw material availability and energy security.

The Thuringian exhibitors at this year's Fakuma are (in alphabetical order):

  • Eichsfelder Schraubenwerk GmbH
  • Formconsult Werkzeugbau GmbH GKT
  • GBneuhaus GmbH
  • Gräfenthaler Kunststofftechnik GmbH
  • Horst Bauerschmidt KG
  • KIK Kunststoff GmbH
  • East Thuringian Materials Testing Company for Textiles and Plastics Ltd
  • Schülken Form GmbH

The companies' thematic focus ranges from the manufacture of precision tools to the development and application of functional coating solutions, as well as material testing for plastics according to national and international standards and norms.
